UNWIND WITH US

Wendy Moynihan, Owner
Wendy came to Savannah in 1976 after living in Minneapolis, Hawaii, and Washington D.C. She was taught to knit as a girl by her Grandma Sarah and has knit every since. After working as a secretary, cocktail waitress, insurance adjuster, caterer, costumer and costume designer, she has returned to her knitting roots at Unwind.
Wendy has worked on most of the movies shot in this area for the last 30 years, but prefers knitting with her Unwind friends. Wendy says that Tom Hanks is a real gentlemen, but won't talk about all the other stars she has dressed in her movie career. She loves to share her Grandma Sarah's knitting wisdom by teaching new knitters and was thrilled to pass her love of knitting along to her daughter Sarah. You may meet her son Patrick at Unwind helping at a Yarn Tasting or stocking the refrigerator with drinks. He doesn't knit but Wendy has given up yet! Her husband Mike has recently retired and thinks that Unwind is just what is needed to keep her out of his hair.
"I always enjoy knitting presents for the people I love. The best part (besides seeing them wear my present) is I think of my loved one as I work on the project. There isn't a more personal gift.

Nel Adams, Sock Knitter Extraordinaire
Nel opened a yarn store in Rochester NY, in 1984 - then learned how to knit! Her shop partner, Lynne, taught her to knit "English knitting" style, also known as the "Throwing" style. Since then, she has become a master knitter, teaching others, exploring new techniques, and knitting many of the shop's samples.
Nel enjoys knitting socks and is an active member of the Fiber Guild of the Savannahs. She is generally in the shop Wednesday through Sunday. Come on in and say hello! Look for her sock knitting classes on the shop's calendar.

Betsy Rickenbacker, Knitting Teacher<3
Betsy learned to knit when she was in Brownies and knit for her dolls until she was in high school. Then she knitted mini skirts and sold them to make money. At 17 she made her first fisherman's sweater. Betsy enjoys a challenge so cables, colorwork and other exciting techniques are her jam. Most of Betsy's personal knitting is done for her kids and grandkids.
